Michelle Adams makes very important points regarding neuropsychology, learning theory and foreign language learning. The more we understand about the different types of verbal and nonverbal cognitive abilities, and how people learn, the better the correlations will be with teaching strategies. An excellent article!

Well done and all true in my experience, both as an older foreign language learner and foreign language teacher. It is possible to learn foreign languages after adolescence, but this article explains why it is a different process.

Your research and explanations of how we learn are clearly connected in your suggestions and recommendations at the end to enhance teaching and learning a second language. A very interesting article
